GETTING STARTED
I guess I had better get this site populated. While I'm fairly computer/internet savvy, I am also a complete novice when it comes to facebook-myspace-blogging, etc. So here goes..................
It's late January, I live on the snowy side of one of the Great Lakes and I'm up to my tush in snow (without the drifts, that is). Generally speaking I like the snow. It's beautiful. The evergreens are frosted, the oaks are dramatic against the white of the snow, the driveway isn't plowed..........oh, here's where it gets dicey. If I could just come to some agreement with the snow that it stays off of my drive winter would be perfect.
I have a Dachshund, not a miniature, standard size. He's about a foot tall with 4" legs. Winter is a challenge for him but he generally loves to be out in the snow. He dives in and all you can see is the tip of his tail wagging above the snow. But even he is wearying of it by late January. This morning he slugged his way out in the yard to relieve himself then tried to make a U-turn to come back, fell through the crust on the snow and was up to his chin in it, so he just gave up and layed there waiting for Spring. I'm not as optomistic as he is about Spring's arrival so I trugged out and tried to carry him back. Imagine trying to pick up a 50 lb. slinky; that's what it's like to carry him so I just got him turned around an shuffled my feet so he had a path back.
Now we're warm and cozy inside and I'm blathering on and on because, well, it's my blog and I can do that.
Hope to hear from some of you soon. Good night!
